At Burton Pidsea Primary Schiool, we pride ourselves in supplying our children with excellent food. We feel that it is one of the most important parts of a child’s life – to eat properly. Eating a healthy diet enables a child to live life to the full and gives them a better performance all round, specifically helping with their concentration levels – which in turn affects achievement.
From September 2025 school meals will be £2.65 per day (£13.25 per week). This should be paid for weekly.
All FS2/KS1 children are eligible for a free school meal, under the Universal infant Free School Meals.
Though meals are free for all children in FS2/KS1, the school could benefit from funding.
If you think you may be eligible for free school meals through benefits related Pupil Premium funding, please still apply.
Further information can be found here https://www.eastriding.gov.uk/learning/schools-colleges-and-academies/school-meals/free-school-meals/
If your child chooses to stay for a school dinner, we offer an option of a hot meal, a wrap meal or a jacket potato. Menus are available for all children at the beginning of each term and run on a 3 week cycle.
There are also special themed menus throughout the year eg bonfire night, Chinese New Year.
The Midday Supervisors encourage all children to try all parts of the meal but no child is forced to eat anything.
Water, milk and fruit squash is provided each day.
Children may also bring a packed lunch from home. Please ensure drinks (non fizzy) are in cartons, plastic bottles or in plastic flasks in the lunch boxes. Do not send drinks in cans or glass containers for safety reasons.
We are also a NUT FREE school so please do not send in any food that contains, or may contain nuts.
We operate a secure online payment system (Arbor) for dinner money. We will send an email which will give details of how to access your personal account. A text will be sent at the end of each week if dinner money is in arrears. If you cannot access the internet then please contact the school office to make alternative arrangements.
If your child has specific dietary needs, please arrange a meeting with the Head Teacher. We will only accept diet sheets issued by a consultant, general practitioner or state registered dietician.
